KS2 SATs take place in the May of Year 6 (age 11)
SATs are a way for the government to assess the quality of education at a school. They are a good way to gauge how well your child is doing at school, but there are no consequences if they were to ‘fail’ these exams.
It's recommended for students to start preparing for SAT exams at least 6 to 9 months in advance, typically around the start of the academic year in which they will sit the exams.
